This is a significant leadership role at the heart of one of the country’s biggest and most diverse cities. This role is a key leadership position across the whole council and city, and you will be a central part of Leeds City Council’s Corporate Leadership team. Through the Leeds Ambitions and our Council Plan we have set a clear path forward to meet the needs and expectations of our residents, and each member of the Corporate Leadership Team will work across the whole council and city to make this a reality. 

In addition to the important statutory responsibilities attached to this role, a key part of your role will be strengthening the way health and care services work together across Leeds. You will lead our work across the council to deepen our relationship and integration with NHS partners as part of the Leeds provider partnership, and more widely with community partners working to improve health outcomes across the city. 

There is a lot to build on. Our Adult Social Care service was recently rated Good by the CQC, we have a committed and talented workforce, strong partnerships and a clear focus on listening to residents, carers and families. But we also know there are significant challenges ahead. Increasing demand, financial pressures, market sustainability and health inequalities all require us to think differently about how meet residents where they are and help them to live independent, empowered lives. 

We’re looking for an experienced and values-driven leader who can see the bigger picture and make a difference beyond their own directorate. You’ll be someone who builds strong relationships, works effectively with elected members and partners, champions equality and inclusion, and is willing to listen, challenge and collaborate.

Most importantly, you’ll share our ambition for Leeds and our belief that by working together, we can make a real difference to people’s lives.
