Drive Change. Shape Lives. Lead Boldly.

WELCOME

Thank you for your interest in joining our Adults and Health leadership team at Leeds City Council. We are recruiting to three exciting senior manager roles, each of which offers the opportunity to lead innovation and directly impact the health and wellbeing of our communities in Leeds.

Leeds is a large, contemporary and richly diverse city - and our ambition is for everyone who lives here to benefit from the city’s progress. Our Leeds Ambitions are our overall vision for the future of Leeds, with a central mission to tackle poverty and inequality and improve quality of life for everyone who calls Leeds home.

Our four priorities at the heart of the Leeds Ambitions capture the things that will make the biggest difference to improving people’s lives in Leeds, representing these themes:

  • Health and wellbeing

  • Inclusive growth

  • Strong communities

  • Sustainable city

Many of the big challenges we face and the best opportunities we have relate to all four themes. With a great diversity of communities including some areas of significant deprivation a key priority is to close the health inequality gap in our city and our Better Lives Strategy sets out our vision for everyone to live a good and fulfilling life. This includes enabling those with care and support needs to live the life they want to live, doing what’s important to them in good homes and in caring communities.

We know that this work is a team effort. To live a good life people need more than adult social care, and we embrace a Team Leeds approach – working closely with services across the council, with our partners in the city and with communities to achieve our vision.

We are an outward looking city with a long history of strengths and asset-based approaches and a vibrant third sector. We have a strong commitment across the council, NHS and with all our partners to improving health outcomes for our residents.

Leeds City Council is one of the largest employers in the region, with approximately 14,000 colleagues working across a wide range of roles and services.  We are very proud of what we do every day to help deliver better outcomes for the people of Leeds.

As a council we have great pride in our commitment to equity, equality, diversity and inclusion both for our staff and our local residents.  Our strong values of openness, honesty and trust guide everything we do.  We work as a team for Leeds to meet challenges head on and deliver outstanding outcomes with compassion and commitment.  Our colleagues talk about the pride they feel in making a difference, and in return for their dedication and contribution we offer a workplace where people feel supported, that celebrates difference and encourages everyone to grow like the city we love.

We are looking for leadership candidates who have vision, energy, creativity, resilience and an absolute focus on addressing inequalities and improving the health and wellbeing of residents and communities. Thank you for taking the time to find out more about this opportunity to make a real and positive difference to the lives of the residents of Leeds and we look forward to hearing from you.
